Charitable donations received from patients
and friends are held separately in a health centre charity
account and are used for the purchase of additional equipment
and books for
the benefit for all our patients. Cheques
should be written out to " V. Masharani, Health Centre Charity Account" and
sent to the Practice .
From 1st April
2004 the rules for accepting gifts and donations has changed. The practice will have to keep a register of all gifts made by patients, relatives or any
other person of the value over £100. The register will include the name of the donor and either their address or NHS number. We are therefore warning prospective donors that this information will be kept and may be disclosed to the
Primary
Care Trust on request.
We are collecting
for...
An area we now want to look at is
health promotion. We want to educate your young patients on leading a
healthy lifestyle and avoiding drugs and excessive drinking of alcohol etc.
There are many private companies who now sell posters and attractive
promotional material to support our cause. We should, in the near future,
having a series of rolling displays in the waiting room promoting healthy
living. We will also led material to our health visitors and school nurses
to enable them to help the wider community and children get educated.
Flat pack King - April 2008
Dr Masharani must surely be deserving of the
title after assembling 4 sets of play tables and chairs for the consulting
rooms. Hopefully our little patients will approve of the fantastic Ikea
furniture and new toys.
We have purchased a 24h ecg machine-
March 2008
Following many substantial donations to the
Practice charity accounts in recent months, we have used the funds to
purchase a heart monitor which records the heart rate of patients over 24
hours. This is the best test for working out why patients suffer
palpitations. Normally patients would have to travel all the way to
Glenfield General Hospital in Leicester to have this test done.
On top of this we have also purchase a
warfarin testing machine in preparation of the Health Authority clinics
being closed down in April. Patients taking warfarin will be contacted
individually later this month to explain the new arrangements for having
their tests done.
The Practice purchases an Ambulatory Blood pressure monitor.
April 2007
Thanks to a
donation of £1000 from the mayor, Geraldine Robinson, the Practice has just
acquired a second ambulatory blood pressure monitor. This device records
patients blood pressures automatically through the day and night and gives a
more accurate picture of the patients blood pressure readings and so enables
better treatment of their blood pressure problem.
Dr Masharani says "thank you" to benefactors

Benefactors were invited to a tour of the new medical centre at
the beginning of December 2006. They also had the opportunity of seeing some of
the equipment that has been purchased with the donations.
Equipment for new health centre
- (updated 1st October 2006)
Over the last week the practice has received substantial
donations from local businesses including funds from Fortnams Chemist to
purchase pictures for the new health centre, Asda-Walmart for the
purchase of medical equipment. Nissan UK ( from Magna Park) has promised to
purchase a TV and DVD player for the children's play area in the new health
centre. We are still looking for funds to purchase more medical equipment for
the additional consulting rooms which will become available in the new health
centre.

Eileen
Derrick, last year's mayor of Lutterworth has been a very enthusiastic
supporter of the Health Centre, collecting about £5000 for purchase of
equipment by the two Lutterworth practices. Here she is presenting a
cheque of £1900 to me. This money is going to be used to buy a
defibrillator and resuscitation kit.
Patients too have been very supportive towards the Practice and
patient's donations amount to £2820. With the new health centre making
considerable progress recently we are starting to purchase medical
equipment that will be required to enhance the services we provide.
Purchases in August 2006 include a cardiac defibrillator, a new
resuscitation kit and a body oxygen monitor:
