
The Feilding Palmer hospital was
built in 1899 in memory of Feilding Palmer, a former curate of church of Tidenham in Gloucestershire who's parents originally owned the land upon which
the hospital now stands.
Over the subsequent years, the building has since seen many changes
such as the opening of a modernised maternity unit in 1975 (but now closed).
The physiotherapy department opened in
1977 with a subsequent expansion of the department in 1988.
An extension of the dayroom was carried
out in 1978 through the generosity of the Lutterworth League of Friends and the
Rotary Club of Lutterworth.
In 2000 a palliative care suite
was opened through a joint venture between the Health authority,
Macmillan charity and the League of Friends.
The League of Friends was formed in 1969
with their mission to fundraise and receive donations to supplement the services
of the hospital. They have, over the years, been very generous in supporting
capital and other projects concerning the hospital.
