Mums in mind
This year we are starting a new group called Mums in Mind for mothers who have post natal depression. This group is solely for ladies
who have mild post-natal illness with the main focus being them and not the baby. It is being run jointly with Harborough Homestart which is a charity that supports families with children under five years old. We also have funding
support from the Lutterworth League of Friends. There will be one session within the six, which is facilitated by a Community Psychiatric Nurse to dispel some of the myths. Another session will be dedicated to relaxation techniques
with a trained therapist leading this session. Other sessions focus on the birth experience and the adjustments to life after the baby has been born. This project has been successfully piloted in Tamworth and Charnwood.
The health visitors in Lutterworth have undertaken work over the last 4 years to actively seek out ladies who have post-natal depression and to enable them to recover quickly and get on with enjoying their new
family. This project is the next step in increasing support for a small group of Mums.
There is also a crèche that will be run by our nursery nurse and two Homestart volunteers to enable the ladies to focus completely on their feelings.

Is your toddler driving you to distraction?
We won’t promise to turn your child into a little angel but we can help you learn how to deal with temper tantrums, sleep problems, faddy eating, biting and similar
problems.
Phone us to find out when the next session will occur.
Resuscitation courses for parents with young children
Can you imagine what would happen if your child collapsed or stopped breathing or started choking on some food? Do you know how to treat a burn?
Every year over 2 million children are taken to hospital after having an accident and 399 died from injury and poisoning in 2000.
With financial help from the League of Friends, the health visitors have been organising resuscitation training courses in partnership with our Ambulance colleagues for parents with children under the
age of 5 years.
It is a practical course that runs over about two hours at the surgery in the evenings. Fathers and mothers can attend. Patients of Dr Reynolds and partners practice can also attend so if you
know of people who may benefit pass the word around.
Telephone us on the usual phone number given above to book a place.
